NOTE: All applications for memberships will become available in August.
Requirements for ALL:
All members, both pledge and associate are expected to:
1) Fulfill AED's 20 hours per semester service requirement
2) Maintain a minimum of 3.25 GPA
3) Pay the $25 annual dues. The dues includes the price for an AED T-shirt.
Failure to meet these minimum requirements will result in the member being put on probation. More information about probation will be sent to members on probation. Members who fail to raise their status above probation will result in the loss of membership. Members who have lost their membership may choose to rejoin AED starting at the pledge level.
Please turn in all applications to the HPAC office in FO 2.212 or to the secretary.
A pledge member is defined as a member who has less than 2 semesters of continuous membership with AED. The annual due for a pledge member is $25, to be paid when the pledge member applies for membership. Pledge members who do not meet the 3 requirements listed above will remain pledge members until they fulfill the 2 semester requirement.
An associate member is defined as a member who has more than 2 semesters of continuous membership with AED. The annual due for an associate member is $10, to be paid when the associate member applies for membership. Associate members are expected to honor the 20 hour/semester service requirement, in addition to maintaining the 3.2 GPA minimum requirement as mandated by the AED national headquarters. Associate members who do not meet these the 2 requirements listed above as well as the GPA requirement will be considered pledge members the next semester.
National membership is acceptance into the national AED organization. Benefits of becoming a national member include lifelong membership, the chance to attend national conventions, and apply for AED-exclusive scholarships. Application for national membership is for associate members who have been part of AED for more than 3 consecutive semesters, in addition to having completed at least three semesters of prehealth professional coursework. Applying members must meet the 2 requirements listed above in addition to the 3.2 minimum GPA requirement, print and fill out the National Membership Application form, and turn it in to the HPAC office with the $75 membership fee by check. Prior to filing your application for National Membership, please file the associate application for this year.
