Officer Elections
As the end of the 2013-2014 school year approaches, officer elections for the 2014-2015 school year are approaching. Below is a list of Officer Position descriptions. Please read through the descriptions carefully, and keep in mind that an Officer Position is not to be taken lightly for a large organization like AED. Please be sure that you have the commitment and time to dedicate to AED before you apply for a position.
If you are running for a position you MUST be present at both April general meetings.
Officer Descriptions:
*Note: The following list includes only general duties. AED Officers/Chairs work as a team and share many responsibilities when needed, such as assisting with service projects, preparing for and attending General Meetings/ events, responding to emails, creative planning at Officer Meetings, and more.
President: Ensures that the AED Mission is consistently upheld and delegates tasks to Officers/Chairs accordingly. Maintains steady communication with AED Members, Officers/Chairs, HPAC, the CSI Office, and the National Office. Coordinates monthly AED General Meetings, including creating relevant themes, inviting appropriate Guest Speakers, and reserving rooms. Confirms that records are regularly built for future use, particularly membership, financial, and service event information. Works closely with the Vice President.
Vice President: Assists the President with administrative duties and event planning, such as preparing Agendas for General Meetings. Oversees annual tshirt production. Handles logistical aspects of monthly General Meetings and other events as requested by the President, including confirmation of Media Services and of Facilities Management. Maintains primary oversight/communication with Chair positions, including Public Relations Coordinator, Fundraising Coordinator, and the service coordinator.
Secretary: Acts as Pledge Coordinator for AED and manages all National Membership applications. Must be organized and responsible regarding member information. Regularly maintains and updates membership records in the database. Creates Certificates for Banquet. Works closely with the Treasurer.
Treasurer: Maintains orderly, accurate financial records for AED. Works closely with the Secretary to collect Associate/ Pledge membership dues and manages all finances. Performs the annual AED audit for the National AED Office.
Service Coordinator: Manages all service projects for AED and delegates duties to other Service Chairs and Officers/Chairs as needed. Maintains primary oversight over all Service Chairs. Works with the Event Registration System on the AED website. Actively seeks new, creative service events in the community and promotes them at General Meetings.
Historian: Attends meetings, service events, and social events to take pictures. Designs Student Union AED Bulletin Board. Composes a scrapbook and slideshow for the end-of-the-year banquet. Responsible for monthly thank you gifts for Guest Speakers (signed by all AED Officers/Chairs) at General Meetings. Updates the Facebook Group and creates Facebook events for meetings and socials.
Public Relations Coordinator: Efficiently coordinates all AED Socials, such as Fall Luau and Spring Banquet, and delegates duties to other Officers/Chairs as needed. Comes up with creative ideas, and should be capable of organizing large events. Promotes AED General Meetings, Socials (Luau/Banquet), and other events through creating effective, appealing fliers and distributing them through campus. Orders and picks up pizza for Wednesday/Thursday night General Meetings. Updates the Facebook Group and creates Facebook events for meetings and socials.
Webmaster: Regularly maintains and improves the website. Updates website monthly regarding upcoming AED General Meeting information. Must have at least basic knowledge of hypertext markup language (HTML) and/or java script and knowledge of file transfer protocols (FTP).
Fundraising Coordinator: Coordinates creative fundraising events for AED. Must proactively seek individuals/businesses in the community to establish connections and organize events.
Social Coordinator: Creates monthly social events for AED. Responsible for organizing end-of-the-year Banquet. Provides decor for all major events and meetings.
